Two Years

It's been two years since I've seen this sweet face or had a nice chat with her.  Today is her birthday and Saturday was her Heaven birthday.

For those that are new to reading my blog this is my sister.  She battled breast cancer which metastasized to her bones for 9 years.  Those 9 years were pretty tough, I did lots of questioning about whether I wanted to or could really trust a God who allowed such things to happen.  The year Jill died my Bible study at church did a complete read through the Bible and it changed my life.   I have deep gratitude towards the work that God has done in my life.  I wholeheartedly trust him and have complete joy in him even though I am sad and miss my sister, even though I absolutely hate everything she went through, I am thankful for walking through this fire so that my faith is stronger.  I saw this quote the other day by Elizabeth Elliot and thought it fit perfect, "I am not a theologian or a scholar, but I am very aware of the fact that pain is necessary to all of us.  In my own life, I think I can honestly say that out of the deepest pain has come the strongest conviction of the presence of God and the love of God."

So how do we as a family remember Jill? Well this year some of the family ran or biked from the train tracks where Ryan proposed to Jill to the church that we grew up in and they were married in.  Of course at the end of the race we had to incorporate a little Dr. Pepper, because you never saw Jill without a Dr. Pepper in her hand.  At the end of the day we made shirts, they all have a dachshund on them, which once again was her favorite.

Easter Mini Sessions

I'm very excited to be offering  Easter mini sessions this spring!  My grandparents lived on a farm and would always get chicks this time of year.  It didn't seem to matter how old I got, I was always excited to get to hold the chicks when they were just little fluffy balls of sweetness!  This year I hope to share that excitement with your kids!

Our family had so much fun doing a practice run a couple of weeks ago with my boys and their cousins!  I knew my youngest would  be completely surprised by the chicks so I waited to show him them until my camera was ready, and boy did he have some great faces!  My two bigger boys were so excited that they had to carry the chicks around the house and "introduce" them to each room.

I still have a few spots left if you are interested in an Easter mini session.  Each session is approximately 20 minutes (not to long for the young ones!).  You will get at least 5 edited images in an online gallery, that you can make choices from and order prints (this session does not include a USB with your digital files).   Last of all if you go to my Facebook page you will see the above add, if you share it on your timeline you will get a free 5x7 print!

what our mornings look like

One of my favorite photographers participates in a project called "what ____ looks like."  It can be about anything, for instance "what snow looks like," or "what bedtime looks like."  I'm not a part of this project but thought it was such a great idea in capturing our "everyday."  So here is my "what our mornings look like."

Winter Photo Session

This was such a fun photo session!  I believe it is the first time I have had an outside photo session in the snow.  This family wanted to get some great pictures of the kids with grandma while she was in town, and thankfully the weather wasn't too cold for taking pictures.

I think this is my favorite picture.  I always love capturing kids being themselves!

Oh the things boys do!

IN PICTURES: This is what happens when boys find large rotten tree limbs.

This is what happens when they pick a tree limb that isn't rotten.

Family Photo's

I apologize in advance, this is a lot of pictures!!  But when it comes to my kids I just can't choose a few favorites.  I took these back in October but am just now getting around to posting them.  The fall was quite busy (in a good way) around here.  A big thank you goes to my in-laws for helping to capture the family photos!

I needed an updated portrait of myself for my website, I think my hubby did a great job!

Sickies!

I think Dr.'s should give out discounts to frequent visitors.  Maybe they could have a punch card system, you know after 10 visits (punches) you get the 11th free.  Last winter someone was always sick, and so far this winter (actually fall) has been shaping up to be the same way.  So far my oldest has had the stomach flu, my middle child has had strep throat twice, and a virus of some sort, and my youngest has had a virus, two ear infections, the stomach bug, and today he has come down with pink eye.  In between all of these sicknesses someones nose is always running causing us to just not feel great.  I already wasn't a big fan of winter due to the cold, but now I'm gaining a new reason to hate it.

Poor baby, he looks so miserable.

Six and three years old

Such great kids!  Don't let these pictures fool you, it was actually a pretty chilly day when I took these pictures.  These kiddos did so good with the cold, I was impressed!
